2023 - 2025

Roles
Principal Level Designer
Audio Project Manager
Game Department CMS Manager

Achievements Summary

  • Owned all aspects of world design, from metrics and 2D designs, to full-scale 3D implementation and optimization, all while engaging appropriate stakeholders as needed (frequently).

  • Increased development efficiency and enhanced risk mitigation through proactive inter-departmental communication.

  • Used scripting, modeling and engine tool skills to prototype gameplay features, validating viability and ensuring design alignment before transitioning to full engineering production.

  • Spearheaded level design tooling improvements, by using scripting skills to create some tools and partnered with remote devs to expand plugin features.

  • Managed open world audio asset production and implementation.

  • Managed game-specific CMS data and improved content production processes.

Cycling Experience
(Peloton Bike+)

We were a tight-knit Scrum team of experienced game devs. Everyone on the team was an expert in their field, and most of us assumed multiple roles to help each other out and meet our deliverables on time. Thanks to excellent project management we developed new features quickly and efficiently and increased our customer satisfaction scores with each update.

  • Researched competitor products to analyze user preferences and inform level design standards where appropriate.

  • Met with Senior and Lead Game Designers and Artists on a weekly, sometimes daily, basis to align on game world vision and determine all of the interactions and abilities the player would have, and how environment artists wanted the world to look.

  • Established Level Design principles, documented and created game object metrics for all locomotion abilities, game mechanics (pickups, entity behaviors, interactive objects, landmarks), navigation helpers and environment lookup.

  • Designed levels in 2D (using affinity Designer/Photo) and arranged level design flow in Miro to make it easy for Design and Art departments to analyze and sign off on layout, progression and metrics.

  • Greyboxed level layouts (all navigable paths, game object placement, landmarks, navigational objects, triggers, etc.) in 3D.

  • Tested layouts locally to iron out issues and balance, before pushing changes to the main Git branch for everyone to play during weekly tests.

  • Met with all concerned parties following playtests to aggregate feedback, and collaborated with necessary parties to fix issues and create a product ready for release to the masses.

Level Design

  • Aligned with art and design leads on a weekly basis to compile prioritized lists of required audio assets for all in-game interactions, objects, ambience and music.

  • Created tickets with implementation details and deadlines for each audio asset and tracked their progress from unassigned to resolved.

  • Researched best practices and platform-specific guidelines and tips for implementing audio on mobile platforms.

  • Established a naming convention and audio formatting standards to optimize audio assets and make it easier for engineers to implement front end audio.

  • Developed unique, context-based and performant methods for audio playback (see examples below).

In-Game Audio Management

Undisclosed IP
(Peloton Bike+)

  • Designed specifications for modular level design set pieces with environment mark-up, and multiple compatible configurations each with unique gameplay moments, allowing for more and efficient content creation.

  • Assisted art department by using Blender to examine and fix actor rigs and environment art assets that were causing issues with level design (ex. level geometry tiles being misaligned due to dimensions not being exact).

  • Assisted animation and engineering departments by fixing a few issues with animation state machines: 1) character freezing at the end of an animation due to an outdated animation reference 2) reports of transition from walk to run appearing slow, and other relatively minor issues that required fixing.
